Des has over 30 years’ experience and is a Derry based International Human Rights Lawyer with extensive experience in high profile Inquests and International Inquiries to include the Bloody Sunday Inquiry and the Inquiry into Hyponatraemia - related Deaths. With extensive civil and criminal law experience, he is a member of various Courts and Tribunals including the Special Tribunal for the Lebanon and the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia. He has also represented families at the Dublin Monaghan Bombings Inquest, the Arkinson family at the Arlene Arkinson Inquest, and has successfully applied to the Attorney General to Direct new Inquests in various cases to include a second Inquest into the death of 9-year-old Raychel Ferguson which is a hyponatraemia related death. Des is currently head of the legal team that applied for and were granted representation at the ongoing criminal trial on behalf of the family of Danielle Mc Laughlin who was from Buncrana in County Donegal and murdered in Goa. Des has a keen interest in coronial law and has developed much expertise in that area domestically and internationally.

Damien has over 20 years’ experience in general practice and has practised in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and England & Wales. Damien is also one of the few solicitors in Northern Ireland appointed as a Notary Public (2010). Damien is also a qualified mediator (2011) practising in commercial and family areas. Damien is also an Advanced Trial Advocate (2008)  with extensive experience in high profile cases involving sexual abuse; divorce; Ancillary Relief and Children Order matters . Damien has also represented clients in Hague Convention proceedings dealing with the unlawful removal of children from certain jurisdictions. Damien has also acted for same sex couples successfully applying for a Parental Order after surrogacy in USA. He has also represented property developers in the acquisition and subsequent sale of both residential and commercial developments both locally and nationally.
